Editor’s Note (revised Nov. 5): The National Institutes of Health will not be attending the DEI Job Fair. Additionally, bringing a résumé and dressing in business casual attire are suggested for attendees, but not required.
Montgomery College’s upcoming job fair will bring together top job organizations across various industries to the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus next month.
The TP/SS campus will hold its Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI) Job Fair in the ST Atrium on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Attendees can connect with organizations such as the Montgomery County Police, the Erickson Senior Living – Riderwood Village Community, and more, offering a range of career and internship opportunities.
“Students should attend this fair (and all job fairs, in my opinion) because sometimes you can make contact with an organization at a job fair that will change your life,” Roberta Buckberg, employer services specialist, said.
“You will talk to a recruiter about their organization, see yourself so aligned with their mission, and land what you think is a job, but will turn into a career – a lifelong passion.”
Before attending the fair, attendees should consider their career goals and prepare a 30-second elevator pitch that includes their name, major, and unique qualities. Being prepared to discuss your background, skills, and ideal job setting will help make the most of the opportunity, according to College Central Network.
At the fair, multiple booths from different job organizations will have information on various opportunities for full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships.
The purpose of this event is to connect employers of industries who value and celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion with MC students, alumni, and members of the community.
Attendees are suggested to adhere to the business casual dress code and bring multiple physical copies of their résumés to share with employers.
