New student senators join during the Student Senate 2022 fall selections
New Student Senators were welcomed into the Student Senate on Oct. 5 after their interviews, which were held on Sept. 28. They took their oath to join the Student Senate after fall selections. According to the Student Senate constitution, the Student Senate is a part of the Montgomery College community whose primary purpose is to bridge the gap between the administration and students at Montgomery College by advocating students’ concerns. Students may run for a seat in the Student Senate in the Spring elections. Every Wednesday, student senators meet to address campus issues for two hours.
Nikitta Joan began her journey with The Excalibur in fall of 2022 as a staff writer, returning in spring of 2024 as a staff photographer. While she's mainly stationed at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus, she's also actively involved at the Rockville campus. Currently working towards her AA degree in computer science, Nikitta dreams of flying high in aviation and becoming a pilot, but her interests aren't limited to journalism and academics; she was the secretary of the 2022-23 TPSS Student Government...
Rodas Mekonnen joined The Excalibur as a photographer in the fall of 2022. She is based at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus and is completing her AA in business management. Besides being a photographer, she is also interested in writing fiction stories. She has published a short fiction story in the Montgomery College Sligo Journal.
