Last month, students were invited to compete in a scavenger hunt that included music, meeting new people, and enjoying pizza.
About 50 students attended, and they were split into teams of 3-4 to collaborate with each other. The objective of the scavenger hunt was to familiarize themselves with the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus and work with fellow students to take selfies in front of multiple specific locations. Some of the locations on the list were the food pantry at Pavilion 4, the library, Raptor Central, and the Counseling and Advising Office.
Afterwards, they were required to return to the Student Services building with the selfies they took for a prize. When they returned to the Student Services building, they got together to share experiences, play board games, and enjoy pizza.
“I think especially getting strangers together to do a challenge together is a good bonding activity,” said Lishan Daniel, a 2nd year student majoring in The Humanities.
The event coordinator, Lela Hall had been planning this event for weeks.
“Yes, yeah. I am excited, I am super excited, and nervous,” said Hall, a 2nd year student majoring in Early Education/Special Education.
She came up with the idea of a scavenger hunt because so many people were asking her where to find different places on campus.
One of the teams formed at the event consisted of Daniel, Tristen Charles, a 2nd semester student majoring in Media Production, and Jannatul Tomsche, a 1st semester student majoring in Graphic Design. They were laughing, working together, and enjoying themselves.
“Going through that activity was……..WOW,” said Charles.
